The digital marketing agency has obtained an ancillary sports wagering licence from Washington State’s Gambling Commission.
As a result, MediaTroopers can now provide affiliate marketing services to operators in the Evergreen State. However, sports betting is tightly controlled in Washington.
State lawmakers legalised wagering in 2020, and Washington’s Snoqualmie Casino became the first property to offer retail betting in September 2021.
But Washingtonians wishing to place a wager must do so in person at a tribal casino or otherwise be on tribal land to make a mobile bet.
Despite these obstacles, or as MediaTroopers said, “Washington State’s unconventional route to legalised sports betting,” the company remained optimistic, seeing “plenty of potential in the Evergreen State.”
“MediaTroopers is pleased to announce that we’ve received our ancillary sports wagering licence from the Washington State Gambling Commission,” said Shmulik Segal, MediaTroopers CEO and Co-Founder.
“Despite Washington State’s unconventional route to legalised sports betting, we have high hopes and a great belief in this emerging market.”
Alongside Washington State, MediaTroopers is licensed in several US jurisdictions, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Nevada.
“This expansion into Washington State is a huge milestone for us, allowing us to reach new audiences and prospective bettors in the Evergreen State,” Segal continued.
He added: “Still, we are mindful that with this incredible opportunity comes the responsibility to promote safe yet entertaining sports betting to our customers in the Evergreen State.
“After many successful launches throughout 2022 […] we are looking forward to working in Washington State and bringing its people plenty of excitement with safe sports betting.”
