In early January, the mixing of pools became available for the first time on Argentinian horseracing from the Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo for the American, Canadian, Caribbean and other international markets.
This was made possible because the board of management of Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo worked closely with the Argentine Government to pass legislation that allows international commingling.
PGI is now the exclusive international commingling hub for connecting into Palermo pools; it is owned by Tabcorp.
Simulcast is currently available for all Palermo meetings on the SRW website, ADW websites and on the SRW app. All races are live streamed and take place every Monday, as well as a mix of races on the weekends.
American and Argentinian breeding have a long history together. One of the best examples is Pure Prize, a Grade two winner that sired Grade one performers in both countries, with a total of 13 crops of racing age and combined progeny earnings of around $75m.
Other such examples include stallions like Blue Prize and Hi Happy that were bred in Argentina, before moving north to win important races.
SRW is a subsidiary of Tabcorp; it holds exclusive rights for the distribution of live racing from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, South Korea, Singapore and Japan to territories across the Americas and the Caribbean.
