The 2024 MLS Superdraft will be held virtually at 3 pm ET / 12 noon PT on Tuesday 19 December 2023 with all 29 MLS franchises able to select a total of three picks, one from each round – 87 in total this year out of a possible 400. On offer will be the best talent from the American college soccer system, players who are collegiate sophomores or above, Generation Adidas players and former college players who are still eligible despite having recently left higher education (since the conclusion of the 2022 college season).
This will be the 25th Superdraft in MLS history (Leo Cullen had the honor of being the first No.1 pick, selected by the Miami Fusion in 1998).

MLS SuperDraft 2024 procedure
The order of selection is based on the reverse order of where the clubs finished in the overall standings at the end of the season – including regular season positions and final places in the playoffs. That means that Toronto FC, who finished the regular season bottom of the Eastern Conference on 22 points, get the first pick. They will be followed by the Colorado Rapids (bottom of the Eastern Conference on 27 points), Inter Miami (14th in the EC with 34 points) then Colorado again, who acquired fourth pick from LA Galaxy via a trade. The first 11 selections will be teams that failed to qualify for the 2023 MLS Cup playoffs, in reverse order.

The process continues, in order, with each franchise making their selection up to the last two teams to take part in the draft – the 28th: LAFC, who finished as MLS runners-up, and lastly, champions Columbus Crew as the 29th.
