New 1000 & 2000 Guineas deal sees Betfred sponsor all five classics

In a deal active from 2025 onwards, Betfred has been named the official sponsor of Newmarket’s 2000 and 1000 Guineas, making the bookmaker the first organisation in history to sponsor all five British horseracing classics at the same time.

The new sponsorship arrangement sees Betfred sponsor the Newmarket’s 2000 & 1000 Guineas, the Derby, the Oaks and the Saint Leger.

Betfred is acknowledging the sponsorship by offering a £2m ($2.53m) bonus for any horse that wins the 2000 Guineas, Derby and St Leger – all of which are sponsored by the bookmaker. Named the Betfred Triple Crown, the feat hasn’t been achieved since 1970.

Fred Done, Betfred Boss spoke on the latest sponsorships, saying: “Nobody has ever sponsored all five British Classics and I am so proud to be the first. I am honoured as a bookmaker to be supporting the sport that I love.”

The extension of Betfred’s sponsorship deal for the Derby was announced in January, with the sportsbook securing a new three-year deal. In more recent news, earlier this week Betfred announced it would be entering into a new collaboration with Inspired Entertainment, launching Betfred Freespins for the sportsbook’s retail operations.

Commenting on the latest update, David Leyden Dunbar, Group Director of Commercial Strategy at Arena Racing Company, which stages the Betfred St Leger at Doncaster, said: “Betfred have been a huge supporter of British Racing, so we are delighted to see them take over sponsorship of all five Classics from next year.

“The Triple Crown Bonus is a fantastic initiative, and one that we hope to be able to celebrate at the Betfred St Leger Festival at Doncaster in the coming years.”
