Nine further racing organisations sign up to Diversity and Inclusion Industry Commitment

HorsesforCourses

The nine organisations are: Arena Racing Company, The Jockey Club, The British Racing School, The National Horseracing College, The Scottish Racing Academy, The Racing Foundation, Racing Welfare, The Pony Racing Authority and Racing to School and Racing Together.

They stand alongside the current eight stakeholder organisations who were also the founding signatories of the Industry Commitment in May earlier this year.

Industry Commitment

The Industry Commitment brings together a formal approach to diversity and inclusion within horseracing, and builds on the important work that has already taken place. Within this Commitment, organisations showing an interest in signing up are required to assign a Diversity and Inclusion Lead at both an executive and board level; each identifying unique priorities and activities of focus.

The Industry Commitment outlines five focal pillars:

Leadership and AccountabilityGood GovernanceEducation and Awareness RaisingCelebrating Racing’s DiversityEngaging New Audiences

Susannah Gill, Chair of the Diversity in Racing Steering Group, said: “In a year that has continued to be challenging for so many people, it is heartening and hugely positive to see more organisations across British racing sign up to the Diversity and Inclusion Industry Commitment. This is another important step forward and we look forward to continuing to work with, and support, everyone who is committed to making the sport more inclusive.”

Diversity and Inclusion eLearning

As part of its work to provide educational opportunities on diversity and inclusion, the DiRSG will also be launching an e-learning module in early 2022; this is to be hosted by Racing2Learn.com and is free and accessible for anyone in the industry.
