The metrics produced by Opta Vision will offer insights and analytics to teams, as well as provide new story and feature ideas for broadcasters.

Opta Vision will use video feeds from cameras installed at match venues, combining these with tracking information gathered remotely from video sources through the use of innovative computer vision technology.

Stats Perform will make use of its Qwinn AI Intelligence system to generate further outputs from this combined dataset. Metrics including team shape changes, pass intensity and pass predictions will all be made available through the use of this new technology.

Nancy Hensley, Chief Product Officer at Stats Perform, said: “We are very excited to be introducing the next generation of Opta data to our customers.

“By synchronising event and tracking data and then utilising our AI capabilities to generate enriched insights, we will be empowering performance analysis departments at teams, as well as a broadcaster’s production team, to identify new performance trends and tell great stories of the game.”

This new system is intended to be made available for the start of the 2022/23 football season.

In early June 2022, Stats Perform agreed a partnership with Sporting Solutions and announced plans to launch a ‘Betting Innovation Centre.’

This new hub will combine modelling, trading, data science, and sports data to develop and launch new B2B products to “unlock the true potential of popular betting experiences.”
