The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) has officially joined the United Lotteries for Integrity in Sports (ULIS) as an associate member.

The new partnership marks a shared commitment to protecting sports from competition manipulation and aims to ensure a fair and transparent betting environment.

The SGA is responsible for overseeing the legality, safety and reliability of Sweden’s gaming and gambling market.

In line with this mission, the SGA coordinates the National Platform as per Article 13 of the Macolin Convention, which focuses on enhancing national and international cooperation to combat the manipulation of sports competitions.

Ms. Rosenberg, Director of the SGA, stated: “The partnership with ULIS aligns perfectly with our mission to ensure a clean and fair gambling environment.

“By joining forces with ULIS, we are enhancing our capabilities to monitor and tackle the issues surrounding competition manipulation in our country and across its board.”

ULIS General Secretary Luca Esposito added: “We are thrilled to welcome the Swedish Gambling Authority into our integrity network.

“This collaboration reinforces the commitment of both organisations to uphold the integrity of sports. International cooperation is a key factor given the complex challenges we face in the fight against competition manipulation.”

In related news, the SGA recently penalised supplier Yggdrasil for allegedly supplying gaming software to an entity that lacked the requisite Swedish licence.

Off the back of this violation, Yggdrasil was issued a warning and given a penalty fee totalling SEK 300,000 ($29,000).
